Metrics for the local area continue to improve, and hopefully that means that the Metro East/Region 4 can soon move out of Tier 2 COVID-19 mitigations.
For Randolph County, no additional deaths were reported in the past week. The last deaths were reported on Jan. 26, bringing the county to a total of 76.
However, in Monroe County, there were four deaths reported in the past week; with one on Jan. 29, one on Jan. 31 and two on Feb. 2. This brings the county’s total lost to COVID-19 up to 80.
The amount of active cases in the local area has also been dropping.
In her report on Feb. 1, Randolph County Health Department Administrator Angela Oathout noted that there were only 57 active cases in the county. The last time the amount of active cases was this low was back on Oct. 9 with 55.
The county has had less than 200 active cases since Jan. 14 and has been under 100 active cases since Jan. 25, and the number continues to steadily decline.
