On Dec. 23, 2020, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Investigation Division started an investigation after allegations were made regarding a sexual assault that occurred at Camp Wartburg in Waterloo.
As the investigation was conducted, investigators learned a female juvenile had been sexually abused by an adult male staff member at Camp Wartburg. Investigators learned the adult male met the juvenile female while she attended camp at Camp Wartburg. A sexual relationship was formed at the camp by the adult male and the juvenile victim that lasted between August and December 2020.
