ROE asks to add solar to building

A presentation about adding solar panels to the Monroe-Randolph Regional Office of Education building was the biggest part of the Aug. 14 Randolph County Board of Commissioners meeting.

Regional Superintendent Ryan McClellan told the commissioners that he would like to get a rooftop solar array system for the building, which is located in Red Bud. As the building is owned by the county, he would need the commissioners’ permission to do the installation.

McClellan was not asking the county for assistance to pay for the solar project. He noted that between the ROE’s budget, solar incentives and the savings the system would provide, they could handle the cost.
