Update given on local historic sites

A presentation about updates at a state historic site was given to the Randolph County commissioners at their April 24 board meeting.

Commissioner Ronnie White opened the discussion by pointing out that on the claims the board was approving that day, there was around $21,000 for materials to be used to build the new stairs at the Pierre Menard Home. This is American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. He added that the plan was for the county to pay for the materials and the state carpenters will do the work.

County Board Chairman David Holder also noted that the county originally allocated $50,000 for the renovation/ replacement of the steps at the Pierre Menard Home, but the total cost came in at around $30,000.
