The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has chosen Warning Lites of Southern Illinois (WLSI), owned by Columbia resident Matt Fricke, as the Contractor of the Year in the Work Zone Traffic Control category.

The award was in recognition of the services WLSI provided Civil Coatings and Construction to complete bridge painting at various locations along I-74 and I-474 in Tazewell County and was presented at the Associated General Contractors of Illinois/IDOT Awards Luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield on Dec. 10.

The job consisted of lane closures, temporary pavement marking and width restrictions while Civil Coatings and Construction performed the bridge painting. Freeburg resident, Bryan Rauckman, traffic control supervisor with WLSI, was the lead on the project.
