Two people were airlifted to hospitals following a two vehicle crash on Friday night.
According to the Illinois State Police, at 10:46 p.m., Stefan D. Bauer, 21, of Red Bud, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck southbound on State Route 159. Near Sunset Lane (between Red Bud and Hecker), the truck left the roadway to the right, Bauer overcorrected and crossed into oncoming traffic. The truck struck head-on a 2012 Nissan Altima driven by Amanda N. Johnson, 26, of Millstadt.
Multiple agencies responded to the crash including the Red Bud Fire Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County EMS and MedStar.
ISP noted that both drivers sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries and were airlifted to hospitals for treatment.
No additional information on the crash was released by ISP.
