A pickup truck stolen from near Red Bud was found in a creek near Lenzburg last week.

According to Randolph County Chief Deputy Jarrod Peters, the truck, a white 2002 Ford F-150 supercrew cab model, was reported stolen from a property on Horse Creek Road by Red Bud around 7:48 a.m. on the morning of July 2.

It was noted that the truck belonged to the property owner’s brother who resides in Fairview Heights, and it had been parked there.

That same day, around 4:30 p.m., the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department responded to a crash and found the truck upside down in a creek in the area of Winter Road and Schmoll Road, near Lenzburg.

No one was found inside the vehicle. First responders searched the area to see if anyone had been ejected or was injured in the water, but no one was found.

Peters noted that they are still investigating the theft and crash, but unfortunately the water was deep enough and flowing pretty heavily in the creek, so as it ran through the truck’s cab, it washed out or destroyed any evidence that may have been left.

If anyone has any information about the incident, they are encouraged to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
