Trick or treat is not canceled in Red Bud

Little ghouls and goblins will be excited to hear that at Monday night’s Red Bud City Council meeting, not only was the annual trick or treat time approved, but it was also extended.

Normally, the city’s trick or treat time is from 6 to 9 p.m. on Halloween night. Alderwoman Susan Harbaugh asked if the time should be moved up this year, pointing out that sunset is at 6:01 p.m. that night, plus Halloween is on a Saturday this year and children have been “cooped up” for some time.

Alderman Clem Esker added that he rarely gets any trick or treaters after 8 p.m. However, it was noted that with it not being a school night this year, there may be some children out seeking treats later.

As the conversation continued, the council decided that instead of moving up the trick or treat time by an hour to instead add an entire hour.

So this year, trick or treat hours have been set from 5-9 p.m.
