A telemedicine option for the Randolph County Care Center and an update on the courthouse restroom renovations were discussed at the Oct. 30 Randolph County Board of Commissioners meeting.
Care Center Administrator Michelle Cato and Sparta Community Hospital CEO Joann Emge discussed the telemedicine option with the commissioners.
Emge noted that they are participating in a Delta Regional Authority grant that is geared towards population health. And as the care center has been a partner of the hospital for years, they wanted to use this grant opportunity to help increase physicians in the care center and reduce the number of emergency room visits by care center residents.
The hospital already has a doctor and two nurses that visit the care center two to three times per week, but this grant will help them in providing telemedicine services whenever they are needed.
“This will improve the health and welfare of the residents,” Emge stated.
