Teacher of the Year nominations are due on Oct. 31

If anyone knows a teacher who plans field trips to city hall, organizes community volunteer projects or invites veterans to speak in class, they should nominate him/her for the Red Bud VFW Post 6632 Teacher of the Year Award, which can lead to the National Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year Award.

Teachers who promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism are prime candidates for the Teacher of the Year Award. Candidates are judged for citizenship, innovation in the classroom, utilization of resources, and passion toward teaching. Winners at the local level receive a certificate and $50 from VFW Post 6632, and are nominated for the VFW District 14 Teacher of the Year.

If anyone knows of such a teacher, honor him/her today by nominating him/her for the VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher’s Award. Nominations can be submitted by fellow teachers, supervisors or other interested individuals (not relatives).
