For those looking forward to enjoying the annual Red Bud Fireman’s Picnic and Parade at the end of June, sadly it has become yet another event canceled due to the ongoing pandemic.
On May 16, Fire Chief Sean Landgraf reported the cancellation on the department’s Facebook page.
He noted, “We love hosting this community social event, but it’s also one of our key sources of income. Keep your eye out for a possible fundraiser this fall. We would like to thank you for your past support and hope to come back in 2021 with a great picnic and parade. Stay safe. Wash your hands. We will get through this.”
The annual Firemen’s Picnic is not the only victim of COVID-19 for this summer.
Some other upcoming events that have been canceled include: the Evansville Knights of Columbus’ Rally on the River, Steeleville’s Fourth of July festivities, the Prairie du Rocher Party at the Park concert series, the Waterloo Homecoming and the Porta Westfalica Fest.
No official decision has been made yet on the Monroe County Fair.
The Rendezvous at Fort de Chartres has been rescheduled to the weekend of Sept. 12-13.
