Softball season kicks off next week under new head coach

The 2020 softball season will kick off next week and this year’s varsity team will be led by new Head Coach Brian Boeving.

Boeving graduated from O’Fallon Township High School in 2008, attended Illinois College and played baseball for four years, graduating in 2012. He served as assistant coach at Illinois College in 2013 and 2017. He was also an assistant at Concordia College in Moorhead Minnesota during the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Boeving was an assistant coach for the Fargo Post #2 American Legion team that won the North Dakota State Tournament in 2015. After moving back to Illinois he took a teaching position at Virginia Jr/Sr High School. He coached one year with Illinois College as the hitting coach and worked with outfielders. During the 2018 and 2019 seasons, he was the assistant baseball coach at Triopia High School. During the summer of 2019 Boeving moved back to the metro east and took a position at Red Bud High School where he teaches Global Studies and World History.

“This year I am inheriting a roster that is loaded with experience. I have seven seniors and five juniors that help make up the core of our varsity team. We have two sophomores and two freshmen that round out the squad and offer depth and will provide competition for positions throughout the year,” said Coach Boeving.
