Seven more COVID-19 deaths in area

Since last week, the number of reported COVID-19 cases in the local area have continued to climb and there have been four more deaths in Monroe County and three in Randolph County.

Monroe County Health Department Administrator John Wagner on Nov. 5 reported two more deaths, one each from Oak Hill and Integrity long term care facilities; another death on Nov. 6 from Integrity; and then another on Nov. 7. This brings Monroe County’s total of COVID-19 related deaths up to 38.

As of Nov. 9, Wagner reported a total of 1,305 confirmed positive cases. Of those, 240 cases are currently active and 10 individuals are hospitalized.

Randolph County Health Department Administrator Angela Oathout reported three additional deaths for the county on Nov. 9, bringing the county’s total up to 22.

As of Nov. 9, the county had a total of 1,606 confirmed positive cases. Of those, 152 were active and four individuals were hospitalized.
