Schools reporting good start to the year

School is underway again, and both the elementary and high school administrators had positive reports to give at the Aug. 20 Red Bud Board of Education meeting.

Elementary Principal Ryan McClellan noted that with a few modifications, everything they had planned to get the school year underway, with most students attending in person, has worked out.

“I’m very confident now we can make this work,” he told the board. “The kids are taking it very seriously and doing a good job. It feels good to see it come together, be in place and be effective.”

McClellan also reported that the teachers have been doing a lot of work in order to both teach in person students as well as those that are doing remote learning. But they aren’t the only ones at the school working extra hard to get this school year under way. He noted that the custodians are working extra hard to ensure the school is cleaned and sanitized for students, and the cafeteria staff has been working extra to coordinate with the newly added lunch locations. “Everyone is stepping up and making it work.”
