There was only one item on the agenda for the Red Bud Board of Education at their special meeting on March 26, to renew their school administrator contracts.
After an executive session, two high school students, Pierce Heizer and Cameron Frisch, addressed the board. Heizer noted that they had heard the school board would not be renewing High School Principal Rob Pipher’s contract.
Upset by that, the duo had collected around 180 signatures from students and members of the community on a petition, asking the board to reconsider. They then turned in the petition to the board.
The board thanked the pair for taking the time and effort to do so.
With one member absent, the board then unanimously decided to renew both Pipher’s and Elementary Principal Ryan McClellan’s contracts each for one year.
Pipher’s contract was set to end at the end of this school year, so now it will end in 2020.
McClellan’s contract doesn’t actually end until next year, so his will now end in 2021.
