With the new legislative year getting underway, State Senator Paul Schimpf recently unveiled his legislative goals and priorities for 2019. He also took a moment to sit down with the North County News to discuss these further.
Schimpf started out by explaining that last year he was focused on proposing and supporting things that he thought would pass. This year, he is looking more at the long term for his legislative priorities.
One thing he notes hasn’t changed though, is his dedication to the 58th legislative district.
He presented a list of ideas, saying, “I believe these ideas can attract bipartisan support and I look forward to making the case for them to my fellow General Assembly members.
“These certainly won’t be the only bills I file this spring, but they represent a strong starting point for restoring trust in government, encouraging regional economic growth, and protecting the people of southern Illinois.”
