Real estate taxes are behind this year

According to a press release this week from Randolph County Treasurer Justin Jeffers, the 2019 payable 2020 real estate taxes for the county are behind schedule this year.

He noted that the taxes are currently still in the Randolph County assessor’s office and are scheduled to roll to the county clerk once the board of review has opened and closed. The board of review must be open for 30 days.

Once the assessments have been finalized, the taxes will roll to the county clerk, where the taxing multipliers will be applied. After the taxing districts have levied their rates, the county clerk will roll the taxes to the treasurer where the tax bills are audited, sorted and mailed. “The process involves three offices and is complex,” Jeffers stated.
