Red Bud Regional Hospital is hosting a free hernia screening event with Margret De Guzman, M.D., general surgeon, on Sept. 19 starting at 9 a.m.
A hernia can appear as a lump that enlarges when an individual strains or it can disappear when they lie down. Another common symptom is a heavy feeling in the abdomen when bedding or pain when lifting heavy objects. Hernias are a very serious medical condition that should be evaluated by a medical provider.
