RBES teacher receives donation from SONIC Drive-In for dedicated work in the classroom

A teacher at Red Bud Elementary is receiving a donation from SONIC Drive-In for classroom improvements.

The popular fast food chain notes that they like to recognize “incredible teachers and the contributions they make to education.” So through their Limeades for Learning Initiative and nonprofit partner DonorChoose.org, they launched a donation match in honor of Teacher Appreciation Month to help teachers obtain classroom supplies and learning resources.

Through the program, Red Bud Elementary’s third grade teacher Megan Smith received a donation of $234 from SONIC for her project “Making Our Environment the Third Teacher.”

On her DonorChoose.org profile for the project, Smith noted that her goal was raise the funds for storage and supplies to make her classroom Reggio-Emilia inspired, to engage student curiosity and creativity.

“My students are vibrant, curious, enthusiastic learners. They are hungry to know more about the world around them. Through literacy, math, and inquiry-based learning, my students take the lead in exploring our world,” Smith stated.
