The Red Bud City Council held a short meeting on April 1, with the biggest topic of discussion being the possibility of requesting natural gas line transfers with Center Point Energy.
While the matter was not listed on the evening’s agenda, City Superintendent Josh Eckart noted that if the city would like to make a request, it must be done by April 12.
He also explained the reasoning behind wanting to make the request would be from a reliability standpoint. The main line had higher pressure and tends to be more reliable than the east line.
In making the request, the city would also have to make an offer. One idea would be to ask for a three year extension in their contract. Currently, the city’s contract ends in 2020.
Eckart also pointed out that making the request does not guarantee that it would be approved.
The council approved of offering a three year contract extension to Center Point Energy.
