In addition to hearing a pandemic update, the Randolph County commissioners approved of a property purchase and a lease addendum at their May 1 meeting.
Randolph County State’s Attorney Jeremy Walker discussed both the property purchase and lease addendum with the commissioners.
He noted that the property in question is next to the county health department property in Chester. Previously, there had been some dispute on the property line, with both the health department building and a dilapidated structure sitting near the line. A survey was completed to establish the line and create a 10 foot strip as a setback.
Walker added that this purchase has been in the process for some time in an effort to clean up the property.
The county will be purchasing this strip of land at a cost of $17,000 and the landowner has nine months to take down the old building or pay damages to the county.
