St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud held a retirement open house on Sunday, Sept. 13 for Rev. Russell Koen.
Koen has retired after serving for 37 years in the Holy Ministry of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Eighteen of those years were at St. John’s.
For social distancing purposes, members of St. John’s were asked to attend this event in the Fellowship Hall in alphabetical order according to their elder zones.
Members of the congregation brought cards for him. They enjoyed visiting with him and looking at pictures and other items displayed from the six congregations he has served during his ministry.
He and his wife, Lauri, will continue to live in Red Bud for the time being as he completes his term as Circuit Ten Visitor.
