Panthers end Musketeers’ season

by Brian Magee

The 2019 football season came to an abrupt halt for Red Bud last Saturday when they crashed into the train that is the Pana Panthers.

The game started with the Musketeers kicking to the Panthers who returned the kick for a touchdown. The PAT gave Pana a 7-0 lead which they never relinquished.

Red Bud got their turn on offense and moved the ball well, but the drive sputtered and they were forced to turn the ball over on downs when an attempt on fourth and one fell short. Pana took over and marched 85 yards for their second score to make it 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Panthers added a touchdown early in the frame and were able to corral the Red Bud offense, forcing a punt and a turnover. The Musketeer defense made a stand following a punt that pinned Pana at their own 20-yard line. The Panthers faced a third and 15, but connected on a crossing pattern beneath the Red Bud defense that turned into an 85 yard race to the endzone that the Pana receiver won making the score 27-0.
