With Veterans Day coming up, Red Bud High School’s National Honor Society is planning to donate items to the Fisher House in St. Louis.
The Fisher House Foundation is a network of comfort homes where military and veteran families stay free of charge to be close to their loved ones in the hospital. They have helped more than 300,000 families since their inception, housing around 1,000 families every day. The Fisher House Foundation also runs the Hero Miles Program which donates frequent flyer miles to military and veteran families.
The National Honor Society is asking anyone that will be attending the high school’s annual Veterans Assembly on Monday, Nov. 12 to donate items to their cause.
They are collecting: cleaning supplies like disinfecting wipes, hand soap, dish soap, liquid detergent and liquid fabric softener for high-efficiency washers, tissues, Febreeze, Pledge wipes and garbage bags; kitchen items like bottled water, aluminum foil, to go containers, paper plates, cups, napkins, hot drink cups (with lids), individually wrapped snacks (chips, muffins, pastries) and fruit; as well as items like restaurant gift cards, gas cards, toilet paper and AAA, AA or 9V batteries.
