More than half of Randolph County’s cases have recovered
This week did not start out well for Monroe County, as Health Department Administrator John Wagner announced an outbreak in a nursing home and four more deaths.
These four deaths follow the county’s first death by less than a week and brings the total of those lost to COVID-19 in Monroe County to five. All of this week’s deaths were noted to be associated with an outbreak that was reported late last week at Garden Place Senior Living in Columbia.
Last Friday, it was reported that there were 16 residents and eight staff at the nursing home that had tested positive. (Of those, four staff members live outside of Monroe County and were not included in the county’s total.)
By Monday afternoon, a total of 46 confirmed cases were reported in Monroe County. Wagner added that four people have recovered.
In Randolph County, the number of confirmed cases is slowly continuing to rise, but the number of recovered cases is also rising.
