Monroe County has another COVID death

As the region is still dealing with the new restrictions imposed by the state last week, another COVID-19 death was reported in Monroe County.

On Sept. 8, Monroe County Health Department Administrator John Wagner noted that the county’s 14th COVID related death had been confirmed by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). 

No additional information was made available about the deceased individual.

Monroe County was also, as of that day, up to a total of 541 confirmed positive cases. On Sept. 4, when there were 502 positive cases, Wagner had reported a total of 61 cases as active, with two people hospitalized.

In Randolph County, Health Department Administrator Angela Oathout reported on Sept. 7 that there was 100 active cases, with one individual hospitalized. The total amount of positive cases was up to 811.

Of the county’s total, 186 cases came from Menard Correctional Center. As of the morning of Sept. 8, Oathout noted there was 41 active cases in the inmates there.
