Joseph “Mic” Middleton, Illinois Department of Natural Resources site superintendent for Kaskaskia River State Fish and Wildlife Area, was presented with the prestigious Illinois Federation of Outdoor Resources (IFOR) Excellence in Service Award on Monday, Aug. 5 by IFOR President Scott Bryant.

“IFOR rarely makes this award,” said Bryant, who further explained, “We only make this award when we see a public service employee who has consistently displayed a level of excellence in their work, gone above and beyond their assigned duties to provide excellent outdoor related services, programs and experiences to the people of Illinois.”

The presentation was made in conjunction with a site visit by IDNR Director Colleen Callahan, who was present to tour the Kaskaskia SFWA and meet with staff to discuss site needs, issues and plans.
