Lots of fire calls for area over past week

The past week was an extremely busy one for the Red Bud Fire Department, with dry and windy weather contributing to several fire calls.

Fire Chief Sean Landgraf reported they responded to three fire calls on Wednesday, Oct. 14, a fire call and an accident on Friday, Oct. 16, and two more fire calls on Saturday, Oct. 17.

On Oct. 14, the fire department started off in the morning with a mutual aide call to assist the Hecker Fire Department with a tractor fire on Cedar Ridge Lane. Landgraf noted that they were called off before they arrived on scene.

That afternoon there was a field fire on Griggs Road by North Prairie Road. “It was less than an acre. I called Baldwin for mutual aid with a brush truck. It was put out quickly.”
