Lady Musketeers win first place

TOURNAMENT CHAMPS–The Musketeer volleyball team held its annual invitational last Saturday with six teams participating. Red Bud faced Carlyle in the championship match and won the hardware in two games. A total of six teams competed at Red Bud’s volleyball tournament held Oct. 12. The Lady Musketeers faced Dupo and Carlyle for their pool play competition.

The team’s first opponent was Dupo. The Lady Musketeers won this match in two sets 21-16 and 21-11. Alyssa Cowell put down seven kills. Claire Grohmann contibuted five and Olivia Carle had four kills. Cowell served for seven points with one ace. Katie Schneider tallied six points at the serving line with two ace serves. Cowell totalled nine digs. Madison Reinhold recorded 10 digs and seven receptions. Jenna Salger had 22 assists for the match. 

Red Bud faced Carlyle for their second match. After winning the first set 21-6, Carlyle came back and won the second set 21-16. Red Bud edged the Lady Indians 15-12 to take the final set and match. Cowell and Grohmann put away six kills each for the match. Schneider served for 10 points and had two ace serves. Megan Stellhorn served nine points with three aces. Grohmann had one block. Reinhold tallied nine digs and 12 receptions. Sami Lucht had seven digs and 11 receptions. Cowell also had seven digs for the team. Salger totalled 19 assists.
