Evansville has a collector again after Monday night’s village board meeting.
At their meeting last month, the board accepted the resignation of Bethany Wunderlich as the village collector. She had accepted another job, and while she would finish out her elected term as village clerk, she was stepping down as collector.
Monday night, Village President Erwin “Red” Becker noted that six people had applied for the part time collector position.
The board held an executive session to discuss the applicants, after which they approved of hiring Sherry Walter as the new collector. While the rest of the board voted in favor of Walter, two of the village trustees, Justen Kempfer and Kenny Kempfer, opted to abstain in the vote.
Walter will start officially on Oct. 21. She will work 20 hours per week, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Following a 90 day probation period, her pay will be increased one dollar per hour to $11.
