Crossing guard struck on Tuesday morning

A long time Red Bud school crossing guard was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital following an accident that happened while he was working Tuesday morning.

Red Bud Police Officer Chris Hewitt reported that at 7:53 on Oct. 15, crossing guard Terry Hartmann was working at the intersection at South Main Street and Field Drive when he was struck by a northbound dump truck driven by Roger Roscow of Evansville.

Hartmann was airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

As of press time, the accident was still under investigation by the Red Bud Police and no charges had been filed yet.
