Clifftop will be hosting a seed collection workshop on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9-11 a.m. at the Paul Wightman Subterranean Nature Preserve, 3325 G Road in Fults.
Seed plants are the foundation of every natural community on dry land. They power every aspect of native ecosystems. Their health is the health of our environment. It follows that ensuring the future of every plant as a functional part of their natural habitat is essential.
Former Illinois Department of Natural Resources Heritage Biologist Marty Kemper will conduct a brief seminar on collecting and processing native grass and wildflower seed, after which everyone will go out into the prairie and practice what they’ve learned.
This event is free and open to the public. Please register to attend by contacting Joann at 618-935-2542 or [email protected] by Aug. 22.
