Buehler honored with banner at VFW

HOMETOWN HERO–A banner honoring local veteran Cletus Buehler is now on display outside of the Red Bud VFW Post.

Hometown Hero Cletus Buehler is being honored with the latest banner on display outside Red Bud VFW Post 6632.

His banner was purchased by his daughters Sharon (Richard) Langrehr and Cleta (Roger) Waldron. 

Buehler served in World War II from October 1943 to January 1946. He fought in the Philippines at New Guinea Luzon and among the many medals received were three Bronze stars with arrowheads, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze stars, Honorable Service Lapel button World War II and the Purple Heart. 

Buehler was a charter member of Red Bud VFW Post 6632. He was 95 years old when he passed away on Nov. 13, 2019.
