
The past week has not been good for COVID-19 updates, as both Randolph and Monroe Counties have reported an additional death and an outbreak was reported at Menard Correctional Center in Chester.
Monroe County Health Department Administrator John Wagner reported the county’s 13th death on Friday, Aug. 21. He noted that the deceased was a woman in her 70s.
Previously, the last death in Monroe County was reported by Wagner on May 30. (IDPH had reported a death for Monroe County on June 25, but Wagner stated that individual had recovered and was not COVID-19 positive at the time of death.)
For Randolph County, Health Department Administrator Angela Oathout reported the county’s eighth death on Sunday, Aug. 23. No additional details about the deceased individual were given.
The last death in the county had been reported on June 10.
