
Arlin and Helen Winkelman of Red Bud are celebrating 68 years! They were married May 17, 1952 at St. Boniface Catholic Rectory in Evansville. They met at the VFW and started dating. The wedding party included: Greg and Alice Kalmer, LaVerne Siegfried Knott (Maid of Honor) and John Gregson. Following the wedding, they had a reception at the home of Helen’s parents. The celebration continued with a dance at the Ruma Hall. Their honeymoon took place in Florida. Arlin and Helen both worked at the American Furnace Factory for many years and retired from there. Helen worked at the shoe factory in Evansville prior to this. They are the parents of Curtis (Sherry) Winkelman and Nancy (Bruce) Cowell. Their grandchildren include: Kyle (Katie) and Tanner Winkelman, Caleb (Michelle) Cowell, Brook (Jordan) Matthews and Morgan Cowell. They have two great-grandchildren: Owen and Wyatt Cowell; and are expecting a third grandchild: baby Matthews in September 2020. For their 25th anniversary, the two took a trip to Hawaii. They were surprised with a party on their 40th anniversary at the Winkelman home. On their 50th anniversary, they celebrated at the Pioneer Cabin with their family. On their 64th anniversary, Arlin and Helen went back to where Helen grew up on the Kaiser Farm and took wedding pictures while Helen wore her actual wedding dress. This past year they celebrated with family at the Bistro in town for their 67th anniversary. Arlin and Helen enjoy playing card games with their family and friends while staying active and healthy.
